What is a "landing page"?
It's probably easier to think of them as a 4 page website that actually does something. Page one is the page where your visitors "land". It has the information about your product or service, your graphics, a link to your privacy page, a link to your terms page, and a results page the visitors access by submitting their information to you through the form on your main page.
In comparison to the standard website these mini systems are self-contained power houses that can be modified all the way up to pretty much the sky as a limit. The standard website created by your friendly developer next door is generally more like a static brochure - and there is nothing wrong with that unless you are selling a product or service or building a list. That's when these lead generating landing pages are so very valuable to you.
The main page is SEO optimized and contains at least a little text and a form. When the visitor completes that form they are delivered to the "submitted" page which is your first chance to hit them with a second message. Simultaneously they are emailed with a "thank you" or "confirmation" letter which is your second chance to hit them with a second message (more urgency).
